TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta has handed over the case files of four suspects in the acid attack against activist Andrie Yunus to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. The spokesperson for the Jakarta Military Court, Navy Major Arin Fauzan, stated that the court received the case files this morning, Thursday, April 16, 2026.
"We received the case files from the military prosecutor today at around 09:45 AM," he said to Tempo through a written message on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Arin mentioned that the court will examine the case files. If the case files are deemed complete, the court will hold the first trial for the acid attack incident carried out by four Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers on April 29, 2026.
"The plan is on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, if the files are considered complete in fulfilling the material and formal requirements," he stated.
In this case, the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta will charge the perpetrators with multiple articles. The multiple articles referred to are Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) Jo Article 20 letter c of the KUHP. Then, Article 468 paragraph (1) of the KUHP Jo Article 20 letter c of the KUHP, and Article 467 paragraph (1) Jo paragraph (2) of the KUHP Jo Article 20 letter c of the KUHP.
Both articles regulate acts of assault resulting in severe injury and premeditated assault with a threat of imprisonment for 4-8 years.
The acid attack on Andrie Yunus occurred on March 12, when he was passing through Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. The attack was allegedly carried out by soldiers of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) TNI. As a result of the attack, the human rights activist suffered burns of more than 20 percent and has undergone multiple eye surgeries.
There are four suspects whose case files will be handed over to the Jakarta Military Court. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES from the air and navy forces. NDP holds the rank of captain, while SL and BHW hold the rank of first lieutenant, and ES holds the rank of sergeant.
This number is much smaller than the findings of the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), Andrie's legal team. The team suspects that 16 field operatives were involved in the incident.
The TAUD representative, Alghiffari Aqsa, stated that the suspicion stems from TAUD's internal findings based on recordings from 37 surveillance cameras around the crime scene in Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta.
"So we synchronized several CCTV and observed and compared, turns out these people coordinated. Turns out these people were in the same location. Turns out these people were giving each other signals," he said during a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III at the DPR Senayan complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
The Head of the TNI Information Center (Kapuspen) Brigadier General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah has not responded to requests for confirmation regarding the progress of the investigation and the potential involvement of other perpetrators beyond the four personnel who have been designated as suspects.
