TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian midimarket company, PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk (Alfamidi), is seeking to open 200 new outlets this year, with capital expenditure (capex) capped at Rp1.5 trillion.
"The capex required is around Rp 1.5 trillion," said Alfamidi Corporate Secretary Suantopo Po after the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPST) at Alfa Tower, Alam Sutera, Tangerang, on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Suantopo mentioned that by the end of 2025, Alfamidi had 2,587 outlets in total, comprising 2,503 Alfamidi outlets, 80 Alfamidi Super outlets, and 4 Midi Fresh outlets spread across Java, Kalimantan, Sumatera, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
Regarding the restriction on modern retail outlets in rural areas, Alfamidi's Corporate Legal & Compliance Director, Afid Hermeily, said the company remains unaffected, as the company primarily targets urban areas.
"Considering our business concept is mainly located in urban areas and does not extend to rural areas, the restriction currently does not affect the company," said Afid.
Nevertheless, Afid emphasized that Alfamidi is committed to complying with regulations adopted by central and local governments regarding the arrangement of modern retail businesses.
"Since the provisions may differ in each region," said Afid.
Afid also added that Alfamidi's management respects and supports the government's Red and White Village Cooperative program. The company believes that each company has different business models, segmentations, and target markets that are complementary to each other.
When asked about the possibility of working with village-owned enterprises or the village cooperatives, Afid said, "The company fundamentally respects and supports government programs and policies and will comply with all applicable regulations."
