TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api, or INKA, has exported another 120 units of 40-foot flat-top container wagons to New Zealand. The latest batch forms part of a 340-unit contract with UGL, an Australian transport and energy infrastructure company.
The shipment was dispatched via the Jamrud Nilam Mirah and Teluk Lamong terminals in Surabaya, operated by PT Pelindo Multi Terminal. With this delivery, INKA has completed 250 units, fulfilling roughly 73.5 percent of the total order.
Nanang Agung Rohmandiyas, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Representative Office at INKA, noted that the 340-unit order comprises 290 units of 40-foot flat-top wagons and 50 units of 50-foot flat-top wagons.
INKA previously shipped 130 units in March 2026. The remaining 90 units, comprising 40 of the 40-foot wagons and 50 of the 50-foot wagons, are scheduled for delivery in November 2026. "For us, every shipment always adheres to the same principle: delivering the exact quality and specifications agreed upon with the client," Nanang said in a press release on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Nanang expressed appreciation for UGL's trust, affirming INKA's commitment to maintaining their partnership across every delivery. He added that the 340-wagon deal marks the fourth procurement contract for flat-top container wagons between INKA and UGL since their collaboration began in 2021.
To date, INKA has delivered 1,294 out of a cumulative 1,504 wagon units ordered by UGL. The partnership also includes a separate contract for 50 locomotive platform units destined for the Australian market. Deliveries for that order are slated to continue through 2027.
"The four orders since 2021 serve as a clear benchmark for this relationship. UGL has once again shown trust through new work," Nanang said.
