The results showed that the circulating video does indeed show Gianni Infantino in the stadium stands, but not when Ferran Torres scored against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final.
According to Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, the video was recorded during the Canada-Morocco match in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup on July 4, 2026. The footage is not from the final between Spain and Argentina on July 19, 2026.
Other footage uploaded that day by TikTok and Facebook accounts shows a similar moment. The video circulating on social media has been flipped horizontally. This is evident in the words "2026 World Cup" displayed on the screen at the bottom, which appear upside down. At the 13-second mark, the Moroccan flag is also visible on the screen.
Several Getty Images photos (photo 1, photo 2) from the Canada-Morocco match depict a similar atmosphere to the video. The two men to Infantino's left—whose positions appear reversed in the video—are Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football, and Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Moroccan Football Federation.
