TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourists visiting Sentosa, Singapore, can explore the Peranakan art and culture exhibition from May 23 to August 31, 2025. The exhibition, titled Peranakan Reimagined, celebrates SG60 and the 10th anniversary of the Singapore Cable Car.
Peranakan Reimagined combines nostalgia and heritage with in-depth storytelling about Peranakan culture. It includes vibrant installations, art projections, performances, workshops, and specially curated dining experiences at Sentosa.
The show features contemporary interpretations and multisensory storytelling, allowing the younger generation to connect with the Peranakan cultural heritage fresh and engaging way.
Thien Kwee Eng, the Chief Executive Officer of Sentosa Development Corporation, stated that the show demonstrates the city-state's commitment to being a leading tourist destination and creating unforgettable experiences for all visitors.
In a press release on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, she said built on our award-winning multisensory Sensoryscape background, this vibrant and colorful show promises to captivate the senses and enhance the experience of every visitor.

Multi-Sensory Experience
Starting from Sensoryscape, tourists can see, hear, touch, and feel the reimagined Peranakan cultural heritage for today's audience. For example, the Peranakan House at Lookout Loop, a 7.2-meter-high structure, serves as a daytime photo spot and transforms into a dynamic multimedia storytelling canvas at night.
In the Field of Beaded Blooms at Tactile Trellis, 198 garden panels have been reimagined with bright designs inspired by the intricate beadwork of Peranakan shoe adornments. As night falls, there is a light show that brings batik motifs to life through stunning digital displays of light art.
While strolling through Sensoryscape, the Giant in Grace @ The Walkway resting area has been transformed into an installation inspired by oversized Peranakan displays, including traditional Peranakan storage jars known as kamcheng, adorned teapots, wedding baskets, beaded artworks, and more.
Other gardens are decorated with various aspects of Peranakan culture involving all the senses. Additionally, to enhance the Peranakan atmosphere, there will be live music performances by the Peranakan Satang singers and the Sentosa Festive Market at Palawan Beach Walk.

New Singapore Cable Car Cabin Designs
As mentioned earlier, in celebration of the Sentosa Line's 10th anniversary, the cable car cabin designs have been revamped with inspiration from Peranakan culture. Each cabin features a striking pastel color palette, decorated tiles, and intricate motifs, inspired by historic shophouses on Koon Seng Road, once home to the Peranakan community in Singapore.
At the Sensoryscape Cable Car Station, this exhibition of traditional kebaya was designed by Singaporean designers, curated by The Peranakan Association Singapore. These include Biku Kebaya by Baba Raymond Wong from Kim Choo House. Meanwhile, at the Siloso Point Cable Car Station, tourists can see two food-carrying installations inspired by the Peranakan Museum collection Rumah Intan. One installation also showcases three oversized traditional Nyonya kueh: Kueh Ku, Kueh Lapis (Layer Cake), and Kueh Salat (Glutinous Rice Cake).
Furthermore, there is a special promotion of buy 1 get 1 free on the Sentosa Line between May 23 and August 31, 2025, with round-trip tickets for two people priced at only 4 Singapore dollars and unlimited one-day travel tickets for two people priced at 14 Singapore dollars. This promo is only available for tickets purchased at the Sentosa Line Ticket Counter, Sensoryscape Station, and the Guest Service Center at Sensoryscape.
