Danantara Flags Governance Issues in Indonesia's Postal Services

7 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian postal service company, PT Pos Indonesia, is marred with years-long financial and governance issues, according to the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency.

"We have received reports and flagged a series of irregularities, including alleged financial manipulation," said Rohan Hafas, the Managing Director Stakeholders Management & Communications at Danantara, in a written statement on Friday, July 3.

Authorities are handling these reports and findings by running an audit and investigation mechanisms in accordance with applicable regulations.

The statement was made after the resignation of the CEO of Pos Indonesia, Daud Joseph, only three months into his tenure. Danantara has received the resignation letter and respects Daud's decision, and is preparing to replace the top leadership to continue the company's restructuring agenda.

According to Rohan, companies must resolve their burdens, as Danantara tolerates no practice that undermines corporate governance.

All findings will be followed up in a professional, transparent, and lawful manner. "Our priority is ensuring that PT Pos Indonesia returns to a healthy, professional, accountable state as a company with integrity, capable of carrying out its mandate optimally," he said.

Rohan explained that Daud was tasked with conducting a comprehensive due diligence on the financial, operational, governance, and organizational conditions of Pos Indonesia.

From the assessment, it is believed that the postal service company requires a thorough and fundamental overhaul.

"According to him, the complexity of the problems faced and future restructuring agendas require more specific expertise to lead the next transformation phase," he said.

Daud submitted his resignation letter on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Iwan Gunawan, the Corporate Secretary of Pos Indonesia, stated that the decision was purely based on personal desires and considerations.

During the leadership transition period, Pos Indonesia ensures that the company's operational activities continue and do not disrupt services for all stakeholders.

"The company remains committed to fulfilling the Shareholders' mandates in providing the best service to the community, strengthening the company's performance, and carrying out ongoing strategic work programs," said Iwan on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
