TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tech giant Xiaomi has confirmed that it will unveil its first humanoid robot on the global stage at the 2026 World Robot Conference, scheduled for August 19–23 in Beijing, China.
According to a Gizmochina report on Tuesday, August 18, as cited by Antara the announcement was confirmed by Xiaomi President Lu Weibing during the company's financial results conference.
Lu stated that Xiaomi aims to deploy the humanoid robot in smart manufacturing facilities, allowing the machine to take over certain manual operations.
In terms of design, the robot features a full-sized humanoid frame standing approximately 1.7 meters tall. It is built around a universal humanoid framework, spanning both its physical structure and the underlying AI model powering it.
Lu further emphasized that the robot will not be developed in isolation, but will instead be integrated into Xiaomi's broader ecosystem centered on the "human, car, and home" concept.
Through this approach, the robot is expected to interface seamlessly with other technologies, operating not only within smart factory systems but also across intelligent transportation and smart homes.
Xiaomi's decision to introduce its humanoid robots to global markets follows successful internal trial runs.
Months prior, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared footage showcasing the humanoid robots undergoing a four-month "internship" at the company's automotive plant.
During this trial period, the robots delivered strong results in tightening nuts, a task requiring dual-sided coordination.
While their initial success rate stood at 90.2 percent, ongoing testing boosted their precision to 98 percent on the task.
Building on that performance, the robots were assigned to the final assembly shop, achieving a 90 percent success rate in tasks such as folding center console side covers and handling material boxes.
The achievement marked the first time the robots successfully handled long-duration tasks involving flexible components.
