TEMPO.CO, Jakarta President Prabowo Subianto received a report that Rp20 billion in aid for each disaster-affected district in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) had been distributed and received by the local government.

In a coordination meeting on post-earthquake handling at the refugee post at the Territorial Development Battalion (Yon TP) 834/Wakanga Mere Headquarters in Tonggurambang Village, Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, on Wednesday, the President requested a report from Suharyanto, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), regarding the aid provided to earthquake-affected districts. Suharyanto confirmed that the aid had been distributed.

"Has the Rp20 billion in aid for each affected district arrived?" the President asked in a broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday, August 26, as quoted by ANTARA.

Suharyanto said the aid had been received and delivered to each regent. "It's arrived. We've also told the Regent that the aid cannot be used for anything other than disaster management," said Suharyanto.

On the same occasion, NTT Governor Melki Laka Lena then explained that the assistance was provided to all districts on Flores Island.

In addition, Melki also said that the NTT Provincial Government had received aid amounting to Rp40 billion. "Mr. President, we have received aid. All districts on Flores Island received Rp20 billion, and the province received Rp40 billion," said Melki.

He says this assistance is very helpful for local governments in strengthening disaster management and meeting the needs of refugees. Melki also expressed his appreciation for East Flores Regency receiving aid even though the region was not among those affected by the earthquake.

However, East Flores is still facing the impact of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi, which has been ongoing for about two years. "Because he also received it because he was affected by Lewatobi, Mr. President. Mount Lewatobi's eruption has been going on for two years, and I express special thanks because he wasn't included but also received it," he said.

In addition to government assistance, he said the NTT Provincial Government is mobilizing support from the community and businesses to ensure the basic needs of disaster-affected residents are met.

The local government is asking shops and kiosks in the affected areas to help provide community needs, such as food, drinks, blankets, and mattresses. The local government will cover the costs of this assistance. "The main thing is that no one should be left without food or drink, or without a blanket or mattress," said Melki.
