TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Liverpool has been confirmed as the champion of the English Premier League or Premier League 2024/25. The title was secured after defeating Tottenham Hotspur with a score of 5-1 in a match at Anfield, on Sunday, April 28, 2025.
With four remaining matches, they have secured the championship as they lead by 15 points ahead of Arsenal in the second position. This is their second claim to the Premier League title, while it is their 20th overall top-tier league title in England.
So, what will they get after becoming the Premier League champions? Check out the complete explanation quoted from the Premier League:
Premier League Trophy
As champions, Liverpool will receive the Premier League trophy. The trophy will be adorned with red and white ribbons, representing the club's colors.
There are two identical trophies. One trophy is held by the previous season's champion or defending champion. While the other trophy is used by the Premier League to crown the new champion.
Each trophy has a height of 104 cm and a width of 61 cm. The total weight is 25.4 kg, and from this weight, the base that bears the engraved names of the champions consists of 15.9 kg.
In the past, teams that have already secured the championship before the end of the season would be awarded the trophy at their last home match. In the case of Liverpool, the match against Crystal Palace at Anfield on May 25 will be the moment of presentation.
The event will be special for Liverpool fans because it will be the first time the Premier League Trophy is handed to the team at a stadium filled with fans at Anfield. When they were champions in 2019/20, they received the trophy in an empty stadium due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Premier League Medals
In addition to receiving the trophy, as champions, Liverpool will also receive the winners' medals for the Premier League 2024/25. Each championship team will receive 40 medals, which will be distributed to players and officials.
Every player who has played at least five times this season will receive one. Currently, 21 Liverpool players have played five times or more for the club in the Premier League, so they will automatically receive a medal.
Is There a Cash Prize for Liverpool?
The Premier League does not provide any special cash prizes for those crowned as champions. All clubs receive a distribution of income, with the champions receiving a larger share.
Simply put, the position in the standings will determine the distribution of income. The champion club receives 20 times the basic performance payment, the club in second place receives 19 times, and so on, until the club at the bottom receives one-time performance payment.
Last year, the highest performance payment was 22.6 million pounds claimed by Manchester City as the champion. Meanwhile, Sheffield United received the lowest performance payment (1.1 million pounds) as the bottom club.
UEFA Champions League Tickets
The champions of the English Premier League are also guaranteed entry into the UEFA Champions League next season. This season, the Premier League received five slots, so Liverpool will be accompanied by four other clubs in the top five positions of the standings.
Position in the Community Shield Match
The Premier League champions also have the right to play in the traditional opening event of English football towards the next season, the FA Community Shield. As champions, Liverpool will face the winner of the FA Cup, a week before the Premier League season begins. The FA Cup title this season will still be contested by Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
