TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Unmanned aerial vehicles or drones belonging to Russia attacked a military hospital, shopping center, residential block, and other targets in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, on Saturday night, March 29, 2025. Local officials and the Ukrainian military stated that the attack killed two people and injured at least 25.
"According to preliminary information, there were injuries among the soldiers receiving treatment at the medical center," said the military chief of staff in the Telegram messaging application, quoted from Reuters.
Ukraine condemned the deliberate and targeted shooting at the facilities. According to Ukraine, the attack adds to the long list of heinous crimes committed by Russia since the unjustified invasion of Ukraine.
The Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, stated that one of the victims had been pulled out from under the rubble. He mentioned that the total number of injured reached 27 people.
Terekhov said an office building was also among the targets, with one drone triggering a fire.
Syniehubov, the governor of the local region, said the attack also injured 25 people, including a 15-year-old girl in serious condition.
Prosecutors, as quoted from Suspilne, revealed that the number of injured reached 30. Suspilne uploaded photos of rescue teams with protective equipment sifting through debris and stacks of bent metal and construction materials outside the building.
Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine, refused to be captured by Russia in the early weeks of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
However, as Russian forces focused on seizing most of the eastern Ukrainian territories, the city often became the target of air attacks.
