TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto received the Chairperson of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, at the Jakarta Merdeka Palace on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The two retired generals of the Indonesian National Armed Forces discussed domestic economic conditions and evolving global dynamics.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, Luhut presented several policy scenarios designed to safeguard public purchasing power and ensure the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN) remains under control. "This includes the strengthening of government digitalization (govtech)," the official release stated.
The government has been piloting the digitalization of social assistance in Banyuwangi and plans to expand the initiative to 42 regencies and cities. This measure aims to bolster transparency and improve the accuracy of social assistance distribution targets.
Furthermore, the government saw opportunities to attract capital inflows, particularly from the Middle East, in response to escalating conflicts in the region. This strategy will be pursued by accelerating the establishment of the Indonesia Financial Center to enhance the nation's investment appeal.
Following the meeting between Prabowo and Luhut, the Cabinet Secretariat noted that national economic activities remain well-preserved. "However, caution is still required. The government is preparing anticipatory measures to address the impact of global conflicts while simultaneously maintaining growth momentum," the announcement detailed.
In addition to his meeting with Luhut, Prabowo also received the Special Presidential Advisor for National Defense Affairs, Dudung Abdurachman, at the Palace on Tuesday. Dudung discussed various national and international defense issues with the President. "He typically seeks advice and input from us as advisors," Dudung remarked upon his arrival at the Palace complex.
Dudung was also asked for his perspective on the Main Defense Cooperation Partnership (MDCP) signed by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
