New BGN Chief Nanik S. Deyang Pledges Tight Budget Controls After MBG Graft Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Nanik Sudaryati Deyang wants to be cautious in using the budget for free nutritious meals or MBG. Nanik expressed her stance after officially being appointed to replace the former head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, who was implicated in a corruption case within the BGN.

Nanik stated that financial discipline within the BGN will be assisted by the Deputy Head of BGN, Agustina Arumsari, a newly appointed official of the National Nutrition Agency. Arumsari previously had experience at the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

Nanik hopes that Arumsari will oversee her decisions related to the financial matters within BGN. "I will not make any financial decisions without the approval of Bu Arumsari," she said after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 8, 2026.

In addition, Nanik stated that under her leadership, the BGN will focus on budget efficiency without reducing the target beneficiaries. "So as not to burden the state budget at this time," she added.

President Prabowo inaugurated four government officials at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday. They included three leaders of BGN and a special advisor to the president.

The officials appointed to the BGN were Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as the Head of BGN, and Trenggono and Agustina Arumsari who were appointed as Deputy Heads of BGN. As a result, they officially replaced the previous leaders of the MBG implementing agency who were removed from their positions and implicated in a corruption case.

Nanik, previously served as the Deputy Head of BGN, replaced Dadan Hindayana. Meanwhile, Trenggono and Agustina replaced Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung. The former officials they replaced are currently suspects in a corruption case and are detained by the Attorney General's Office.

In addition to the leaders of BGN, Prabowo also appointed the President of the Labor Party, Said Iqbal. Said, who is also the President of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI), was inaugurated as a Special Advisor to the President for Labor and Worker Welfare.

Their oath-taking was led by the President. "Are you willing to take the oath according to your respective religions?" Prabowo asked those who were inaugurated.

"I am willing," said the officials. They then took an oath to carry out their new duties with the utmost sincerity, to abide by the laws and regulations, and to uphold the ethics of their positions when working.

The inauguration of the BGN leadership was based on Presidential Decree Number 18/M of 2026. Meanwhile, Said Iqbal was inaugurated based on Presidential Decree Number 58/P of 2026.
