TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto appointed Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Nanik replaces Dadan Hindayana, who is a corruption suspect.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi claimed that Prabowo has been monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Free Nutritional Meals (MBG) program implemented by the BGN for almost 1.5 years. "The President has decided to change the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency," Prasetyo said on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Prabowo also removed two deputy heads of the BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sonny Sanjaya. Along with Dadan, both are also suspects. Prabowo appointed Agustina Arumsari and Major General Trenggono as their replacements.
The following is Nanik S Deyang's track record during her tenure at BGN:
Deputy Head of the BGN
Nanik S. Deyang has been serving as Deputy Head of the BGN since September 17, 2025. Previously, she served as Deputy I of the Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation.
Prasetyo Hadi stated that Nanik's performance during her tenure as Deputy Head of the BGN was one of President Prabowo's considerations in appointing her to replace Dadan. Another consideration was her outstanding performance in evaluating and monitoring the BGN's work. "She is one of those who is quite, if I may say very strict, very firm," said the Gerindra Party politician.
Tearfully Apologizes for the MBG Poisoning Case
Nanik once wept and apologized for the poisoning suffered by thousands of schoolchildren in several areas receiving the MBG program. Nanik acknowledged that the poisoning cases were also her agency's responsibility and promised to make full improvements.
"So once again, to my beloved children throughout Indonesia and also to all the parents, I apologize on behalf of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), and I promise it will never happen again," she said, sobbing during a press conference at the BGN office in Jakarta, Friday, September 26, 2025.
Closing 40 MBG Kitchens Due to Poisoning Cases
Following a spate of poisoning cases, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) closed dozens of kitchens or Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) found to be operating in violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for an indefinite period.
As of Friday afternoon, September 26, 2025, the Nutrition Agency recorded 45 MBG kitchens operating in violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs). "Of those 45 kitchens, we have declared 40 closed indefinitely," said Nanik.
She asked all regional parties to help monitor the operation of the kitchens or SPPGs. The BGN also promised to continuously monitor and improve the services of the nutritious food kitchens.
Issuing an Ultimatum for MBG Kitchen Suitability Certification
Nanik once issued an ultimatum to MBG partners to complete the Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate (SLHS), halal certification, and water suitability certificate within one month. "If within that one month they fail to meet these three requirements, we will close them," she said.
Nanik explained that the partners' contracts are only for one year. The agreement includes a clause that allows BGN to terminate them unilaterally. Another measure taken by BGN is to establish a rule that all SPPGs must be led by a certified chef.
One head chef will be a representative from BGN. "But the partners must also provide a chef as an assistant. So, there will be two chefs in the kitchen, and all must be certified," she said.
