TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 32-year-old man identified by the initial S was found dead by hanging in the bathroom of his residence in South Grogol, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
The man's body was discovered by his wife, AH, 27 years old, around 04:30 AM WIB (Western Indonesia Time).
"The witness woke up and saw the bathroom door locked," said the Chief of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, in a written statement on Monday, April 7, 2025.
At that time, AH did not find her husband, so she suspected that the person in the bathroom was S. Without hesitation, AH forced open the bathroom door and found S hanging with his neck tied with a rope.
AH quickly cut the rope and lowered her husband's body. However, at that time, S had passed away.
AH later informed the local neighborhood (RT) head, who then reported the incident to the Kebayoran Lama Police. Upon arrival, the police transported S's body to Fatmawati Hospital, South Jakarta.
Kebayoran Lama Police Chief Commissioner Widya Agustiono said the case is still under investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that S may have died by suicide.
