TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israel is gearing up to deploy international forces in the Gaza Strip starting in May, according to Israel's public broadcaster KAN on Saturday, March 14, 2026, as quoted from Anadolu. The deployment is part of the next phase of the Trump-backed peace plan.
The troops, which are expected to include about 5,000 soldiers from Indonesia, along with dozens of soldiers from Kazakhstan, Morocco, Albania, and Kosovo, could begin operations on May 1, the broadcaster reported.
The force will initially be stationed around a Palestinian city currently under construction with support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Rafah, southern Gaza, before expanding to other parts of the territory, the report added.
The broadcaster said military delegations from participating countries are expected to arrive in Israel within two weeks to conduct reconnaissance tours in Gaza prior to the deployment.
The presence of these forces will be expanded within an area referred to by Israeli media as the “yellow line,” a provisional boundary within Gaza where Israeli forces have temporarily withdrawn.
The report also noted that hundreds of foreign troops are expected to depart for Jordan next month for training before entering Gaza as part of the international force.
On February 9, an Israeli broadcaster reported that preparations had begun for the arrival of thousands of Indonesian soldiers as part of Trump's stabilization force.
Previously, on January 16, the White House announced the governmental structure for the Gaza transition phase, including the Board of Peace, the Gaza Executive Council, the National Committee for Gaza Administration, and the international stabilization force.
The stabilization force will oversee security operations in Gaza, disarm armed groups, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials.
This step is part of the second phase of Trump’s 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, which is supported by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 issued on November 17, 2025.
On March 6, Indonesia announced that it would withdraw from the Board of Peace if it failed to support Palestinian independence. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto made this statement during a meeting with more than 160 religious scholars at the presidential palace in Jakarta.
The ceasefire agreement took effect on October 10, 2025, following a two-year genocide in Gaza that killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and injured more than 171,000 others.
The genocide also destroyed approximately 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure in the region, with reconstruction costs estimated by the UN at around US$70 billion.
