TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian cricket won three regional categories at the 2025 ICC Development Awards and advanced to four global award categories.
This achievement places Indonesia on par with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the country with the most global representation in the cricket development awards organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
"These awards highlight the outstanding programs implemented by ICC members to expand cricket's reach, create new opportunities, and deliver tangible impact on society," said ICC Chairman Jay Shah in an official statement on Sunday.
"This year's winners demonstrate innovation, ambition, inclusivity, and a strong commitment to developing the game in various parts of the world," he added.
Indonesia is one of the most outstanding performers in the East Asia-Pacific (EAP) region.
Indonesia emerged as the East Asia-Pacific regional champion in three categories: ICC Development Initiative of the Year, ICC Associate Member Men's Team Performance of the Year, and ICC Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year.
Overall, the ICC has named regional champions in six main categories to compete at the global level. The global winners will be announced in July.
"A few years ago, it was difficult to imagine Indonesia standing alongside the world's best cricket development nations. Today, through the hard work of the entire Indonesian cricket community, we have succeeded in becoming regional champions and advancing to the global level," said Abhiram Singh Yadav, Chairman of the Indonesian Cricket Association.
The ICC Development Awards were first held in 2002 to recognize ICC members who demonstrate innovation and tangible impact in cricket development.
Regional champions from around the world will now be judged by an independent panel consisting of former international players, ICC representatives, media and official ICC partners to determine the global winners.
