TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Explosions were heard in Tel Aviv after Israel detected a barrage of missile attacks from Iran, according to a report from RIA Novosti correspondent on Monday, June 8, 2026, as cited by Antara.
Earlier, air raid sirens were heard in Tel Aviv following reports of Iranian missile attacks. There have been no reports of damage or casualties from the attacks.
Israeli forces claimed to have detected missiles launched from Iran as air raid sirens were heard in Haifa and northern Israel. Tel Aviv's air defense system was activated to neutralize the missiles.
On June 7, Iran launched several missiles towards northern Israel, shortly after Tehran said it would retaliate against recent Zionist attacks on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
Subsequently, Israel said it had carried out attacks on military targets in central and western Iran, which Tehran responded in kind.
The Iranian Embassy in Indonesia previously stated that the Iranian Armed Forces had launched an attack on the Zionist regime in the northern Palestinian territories on Sunday night. This follows repeated violations of the April 8 ceasefire, as well as ongoing Israeli aggression towards Lebanon and Iran.
This action also responded to Israel's coordinated attacks with the US over the past two weeks. The attacks targeted several ships and various locations in southern Iran, seen as acts of maritime piracy against the Iranian nation.
The statement added, "The Iranian Armed Forces, on the night of Sunday, June 7, 2026, in exercising the inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, attacked a number of military targets in the occupied northern territories of Palestine."
Iran affirmed its strong determination to defend its security and national interests firmly wherever and whenever necessary, and reminded that the ceasefire in Lebanon is an integral part of the ceasefire agreement of April 8, 2026.
Therefore, Iran accuses the US government of directly bearing responsibility for various ceasefire violations committed by the Zionist regime with all the consequences that arise, including any escalation of tensions in the region.
