TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As holiday seasons like Easter and summer approach, many families are looking for child-friendly and easily accessible destinations. To address this need, travel booking platform LateRooms has released its 2026 Family Holiday Index, which maps the most comfortable European cities to visit with babies and young children.
This index can serve as a guide for parents when choosing a holiday destination. Planning a vacation with children is often not as simple as imagined. Instead of a relaxing atmosphere, parents often face long airport queues, extra luggage, and even minor dramas like tantrums. Even short trips can feel tiring if not well-prepared.
As reported by Euro News, destinations are assessed based on several important factors, such as flight duration, ease of access from the airport to the city center, level of walking comfort, number of child-friendly attractions, and availability of family accommodations.
As a result, Copenhagen took the top spot. The Danish capital is considered superior for its accessibility. Furthermore, the city is very pedestrian-friendly, allowing families to explore without transportation hassles. Attractions like Tivoli Gardens and the Nyhavn harbor area add to the fun holiday experience for children.
In second place, Berlin offers over 200 family activities. From the Berlin Zoo to interactive museums like the Deutsches Technikmuseum, the entertainment options are diverse. Meanwhile, Barcelona ranks third with a balanced mix of city and beach tourism, as well as hundreds of kid-friendly attractions.
Other cities in the top 10 include Florence, Amsterdam, Valencia, Basel, Kraków, Prague, and Vienna. This list can be a reference for parents looking for a more practical vacation without sacrificing the comfort of their children.
