According to Hindustan Times, a disciplined routine is crucial for any weight loss program. Metabolic fat loss coach Tegan Michelle recently shared on her social media five morning habits to promote better fat burning.
1. Drink Lemon Water or Apple Cider Vinegar
Michelle suggests starting the day with lemon water or apple cider vinegar. When infused with warm water, this drink helps keep your body hydrated.
Both liquids aid digestion, flush out toxins, reduce bloating, and support liver detoxification. They also stabilize blood sugar, which can help curb hunger later in the day.
2. Get Sunlight Exposure
Spend 30 minutes in the sunlight after waking up. This activity helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which, according to Michelle, plays a significant role in weight loss.
Sunlight not only improves sleep quality, an important factor for fat burning, but also helps regulate metabolism, increase serotonin, and balance cortisol levels.
3. Stretch Your Body
If you have been sleeping in an uncomfortable position, a good morning stretch can help relieve tension and stiffness. "Your body has been still for 6-8 hours, get it moving- Gentle stretching, mobility work, or yoga in the morning," Michelle advises. Stretching improves circulation and digestion, reduces stiffness and inflammation, and lowers stress.
4. Eat a Protein-Rich Breakfast
Starting your day with a protein-rich breakfast is key. Skipping protein in the morning can cause blood sugar spikes, excessive cravings, and overeating later on. Protein helps you feel full and satisfied, stabilizes blood sugar, and reduces the urge to snack unnecessarily.
5. Practice Yoga and Meditation
Take some time for yoga or meditation. Michelle emphasizes that, "Fat loss isn’t just about what you eat or how you move—it’s about how you manage stress. Chronic stress leads to cortisol spikes, which makes your body hold onto belly fat."
