TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US President Donald Trump said he would strike Iran again if Tehran did not fully comply with the peace deal recently signed by both sides.

At a G7 meeting in France on Wednesday, Trump emphasized that the US-Iran peace memorandum of understanding, which stipulates a cessation of hostilities and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, was not yet final.

"If I don't want it, we'll be shooting at them again, dropping bombs on their heads," Trump said ahead of his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 meeting, as cited by Antara.

"If they don't behave, we'll drop bombs right on their heads," the US president said.

The US and Iran said the peace memorandum would extend the ceasefire for another 60 days to give both sides a chance to negotiate a final agreement that would formally end the war.

The memorandum, announced on Sunday, also stipulates that the US end its April naval blockade of all shipping entering and leaving Iranian ports.

Following the conclusion of the three-day G7 summit in the Alpine resort town of Evian-les-Bains, Trump spoke for over an hour at a press conference, where he expressed pride in reaching the agreement, which will be signed in Switzerland on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Trump said he had presented details of the memorandum to the leaders attending the summit, and their response was very positive.

The 14-point memorandum, released Wednesday, stated that the fate of Iran's nuclear program, sanctions relief, and other issues related to Iran would be discussed in upcoming negotiations.

Along with Israel, the US launched a war against Iran in mid-February, with Trump claiming his primary goal was to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

However, in a press conference on Wednesday, Trump acknowledged that the enormous economic impact of the war forced him to end the strikes immediately.

"I don't want an economic disaster," he said.

Trump, who announced the US-Iran deal on his 80th birthday, also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping for remaining "neutral" during the conflict between Washington and Tehran.

"They could have made things difficult for us," Trump said of the negotiations for a peace deal.

He also reiterated his warning that if a final agreement was not reached within 60 days, he would launch another attack on Iran.
