TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Tennis legend Roger Federer has lost his billionaire status after shares in Swiss sportswear company On Holding plunged 19 percent following weaker-than-expected sales.

Federer, who owns a 2.5 percent stake in On, saw an estimated US$52 million wiped from his fortune in the market sell-off. Forbes now estimates his net worth at US$952 million, down from more than US$1.1 billion in the previous estimate.

Where does Roger Federer's net worth come from?

A significant portion of Federer's wealth comes from his successful tennis career and lucrative endorsement deals, as news.com.au reported.

Federer earned more than US$130 million in career prize money during his playing days. However, his earnings off the court have been even more substantial, with the 20-time Grand Slam champion becoming one of the world's most marketable athletes.

One of his biggest commercial deals came in 2018, when Federer signed a 10-year, US$211 million apparel agreement with Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo after ending his 24-year partnership with Nike.

His endorsement portfolio has also included major brands such as Rolex, Mercedes-Benz, Gillette and Lindt. He additionally signed a reported US$81 million deal with private jet company NetJets.

Federer's investment in On has become another major source of his wealth. He joined the Zurich-based company as a co-owner in 2019 and became involved with the brand's fashion direction. His "The Roger" sneaker line helped boost the company's profile and contributed to its valuation surge in 2025.

How much is Roger Federer's net worth now?

According to Forbes, Federer's net worth is now estimated at US$952 million following On's 19 percent decline in share price.

The drop cost Federer approximately US$52 million because of his 2.5 percent stake in the company. The fall also pushed his estimated fortune below the US$1 billion threshold, ending his brief run among the world's billionaire athletes.

On was first listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, and its valuation rose sharply in 2025. However, the recent decline in Federer's share price highlights how changes in the market value of his investments can significantly impact his overall fortune.

Despite the setback, Federer remains one of the world's wealthiest retired athletes, with his fortune built through decades of tennis success, endorsement partnerships and investments.
