TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Indonesian Capital Authority (IKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, has unveiled the latest progress in the plan to establish a Taman Safari (Safari Park) within IKN, East Kalimantan. He stated that the IKN Authority has allocated land within the Core Government Center Area (KIPP) for this purpose.
"This area is located behind the Palace grounds, near the glamping facilities, which have been selected by Taman Safari," Basuki announced during a virtual press conference on the IKN Authority's collaboration with IDN Global on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
The initiative to develop the Safari Park in IKN was spearheaded by Garibaldi Thohir, also known as Boy Thohir, the President Director of PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk. According to Basuki, the blueprint for this recreational park has now progressed to the design phase. However, it is currently pending endorsement from President Prabowo Subianto.
"We are awaiting consultation with Bapak President. This information was conveyed to us by Pak Boy Thohir," he clarified.
The former Minister of Public Works and Public Housing affirmed that the IKN Authority will maintain diligent oversight of the project's progression. "This is to ensure that the development can commence promptly," he asserted.
Previously, Basuki had indicated that Boy Thohir aimed for the construction of the Taman Safari in IKN to commence by the end of 2025, with a projected completion timeframe of two to three years.
In a written statement dated February 7, 2025, he disclosed that 225 hectares of land had been earmarked as the location for the Taman Safari. The suitability of this land has been assessed in conjunction with the Taman Safari Team.
Meanwhile, as reported by Antara, the IKN Authority conveyed that investors in IKN are proceeding with construction in accordance with the mutually agreed schedules.
Deputy for Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority, Agung Wicaksono, elaborated that each investor who has participated in groundbreaking ceremonies has formalized a Land Utilization Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the IKN Authority. This PKS outlines a comprehensive development plan, encompassing the various stages and timelines of the project.
A crucial stipulation within this agreement mandates that investors must initiate construction no later than 18 months following the signing of the accord.
Agung emphasized that schedule flexibility is essential to guarantee the quality of the project, from its conceptualization to its execution. The IKN Authority is committed to continuously monitoring the advancement of each project to ensure adherence to the established targets.
