TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Development Control and Special Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aris Marsudiyanto, has spoken out about rumored plans to replace National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. President Prabowo Subianto reportedly submitted a official letter to the House of Representatives (DPR) regarding the change.

Aris neither confirmed nor denied that the letter had reached parliament. "Wait for the right time. Positions in this world will inevitably change; nothing stays the same," Aris said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Aris, who is a long-time ally of Prabowo, emphasized that reshuffling presidential appointments remains entirely within the authority of the Head of State. "The timing is up to the President. Just wait," Aris stated.

Speculation regarding Listyo Sigit's removal surfaced amid ongoing tension between prosecutors and police over a corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. Sigit allegedly did not brief Prabowo prior to launching the investigation into Febrie.

A report by Tempo titled "Rebutan Pengaruh Sjafrie-Dasco dalam Konflik Polisi-Jaksa published on July 19, 2026, revealed that replacing the National Police Chief was discussed during at least two separate meetings—one at the Widya Chandra official residence on Friday, July 10, 2026, and another at the State Palace on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of House Commission III, Habiburokhman, dismissed claims that parliament received a letter concerning the Police Chief's replacement. "We urge the public not to be misled by unfounded rumors," Habiburokhman stated in a written release on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
