TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto hosted Peruvian President Dina Boluarte with a variety of local dishes such as barramundi curry and Balinese chicken salad during a working lunch session at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 11, 2025.
According to an official release from the Presidential Secretariat’s Press Bureau, President Prabowo Subianto welcomed President Dina Boluarte of Peru and her official delegation for a working lunch following a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders.
As discussions on strategic cooperation unfolded, the rich aroma of Indonesian spices mingled with the fresh fragrance of the dishes being served—blending diplomacy with the allure of local culinary artistry.
The lunch began with a taste of Indonesia’s warm hospitality: a Balinese chicken salad served as a vibrant appetizer. This was followed by scallop lodeh, a creative fusion of traditional flavors. For the main course, barramundi curry offered an authentic taste of the archipelago. The meal concluded on a sweet note with fresh pomegranate.
Throughout the lunch, a selection of refreshing beverages, such as watermelon juice, orange juice, coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider, accompanied the dishes and added a casual elegance to the diplomatic gathering.
Beyond the formalities, the lunch symbolized a gesture of friendship, underscoring that diplomacy is not only shaped at negotiation tables, but also around shared meals, where warmth, mutual respect, and cultural exchange take center stage.
President Boluarte’s official visit to Indonesia came in response to President Prabowo’s invitation and marked a significant moment in bilateral relations. On August 12, Indonesia and Peru will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties, a milestone highlighting the strength and continuity of their partnership.
In his remarks, President Prabowo noted that despite the vast geographical distance, Indonesia and Peru share common ground as Pacific nations—both dedicated to improving the welfare of their people and aligned in many of their strategic interests.
The President also welcomed efforts to enhance the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Indonesia and Peru.
