TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ten Indonesian badminton players are set to compete in the Round of 16 of the French Open 2025 on Thursday, October 23, starting at 03:00 PM Jakarta time (WIB).

Two Indonesian men’s doubles pairs will face each other in an all-Indonesian clash for a spot in the quarter-finals — Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani against Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat.

Their encounter is scheduled as the eighth match on Court 3 of the Glaz Arena. Meanwhile, another Indonesian pair, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, will take on Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard/Mads Vestergaard in the same category.

Fajar and Fikri previously overcame Lundgaard and Vestergaard in front of their home crowd during the Denmark Open 2025 last week. That intense match lasted one hour and twelve minutes, ending 21–16, 18–21, 21–18.

Given that narrow win, the Indonesian duo is expected to stay alert, as the Danish pair will be eager to seek revenge.

In the men’s singles division, Jonatan Christie, fresh off his Denmark Open 2025 title, will meet Japan’s Koki Watanabe. Jonatan, widely known as Jojo, has previously won both of their head-to-head meetings.

Two other Indonesian men’s singles players, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Alwi Farhan, are also set to compete today. Ginting will face Chi Yu Jen from Taiwan, while Alwi takes on Nhat Nguyen of Ireland.

In the women’s doubles category, three Indonesian pairs will fight for a place in the quarter-finals:

  • Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari

  • Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum

  • Lanny Tria Mayasari/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s sole mixed doubles pair, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, will face a tough challenge against Thailand’s third-seeded duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran.
