TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to receive the visit of Brazil's President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Lula da Silva will be welcomed with a state reception ceremony.
"President Lula da Silva is scheduled to be received by President Prabowo Subianto in a state reception ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta," the official statement from the Presidential Secretariat's Bureau of Press, Media, and Information on Thursday, October 23, 2025, read.
The Presidential Secretariat reported that President Lula da Silva's visit to Indonesia this time is a return visit to President Prabowo Subianto's state visit to Brasilia in July 2025. "This visit is also expected to strengthen the strategic cooperation between the two countries in various fields," said the Presidential Secretariat.
Lula da Silva arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2025, around 5:45 p.m. local time. At that time, Lula da Silva was welcomed by Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Indonesia George Monteiro Prata, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federative Republic of Brazil Andhika Chrisnayudhanto, as well as the Commander of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Air Marshal Erwin Sugiandi. President Lula da Silva also received a welcoming bouquet from Abang None Jakarta.
After greeting the welcomers, President Lula da Silva then walked past the honor guard troops who stood tall along the welcoming route. From the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, President Lula da Silva then continued the journey to the hotel where he would stay during his time in Jakarta.
