TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, urged the government to inspect the issuers of halal labels for children's snacks containing pork-derived (porcine) ingredients. According to him, there is an inspection mechanism during the process of issuing a halal label by the halal product guarantee institution.
"So we must inspect the institution that issues the halal label,” said Yahya at the PBNU building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
He stated that the inspection of the halal product guarantee institution is not only an effort to ensure the agency’s proper operation, but to seek other possible snacks containing porcine.
"It’s good if we find more products. It means the supervisory control is working well," said Yahya.
Previously, the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) released findings of processed food products that were proven to contain pork ingredients.
The products containing pork ingredients are:
- Corniche Fluffy Jelly Marshmallow (Various Flavors: Lychee, Orange, Strawberry, Grape)
- Corniche Teddy Apple Flavored Marshmallow
- ChompChomp Car Mallow (Car Shaped Marshmallow)
- ChompChomp Flower Mallow (Flower Shaped Marshmallow)
- ChompChomp Tube-shaped Marshmallow (Mini Marshmallow)
- Hakiki Gelatin (Food Additive for Gel Formation)
- Larbee - TYL Marshmallow with Vanilla Filling
- AAA Orange Flavored Marshmallow
- SWEETME Chocolate Flavored Marshmallow
Separately, Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Jasra Putra stated that the institution is open to reports of processed food products containing pork with halal labels.
He also urged the police to immediately inspect the laboratory of the institution issuing halal labels on those products. "We also encourage parents to supervise their children to not purchase and consume these products that have been released by BPOM and BPJPH," said Jasra.
