TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paulus Tannos aka Tjhin Thian Po, a fugitive in the e-KTP corruption case, stated that his extradition process does not align with the agreement between Indonesia and Singapore. This was revealed in a letter from Paulus Tannos to Tempo and three other media outlets dated April 17, 2025. The Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra wrote the letter in English himself.

"I am writing this letter from Changi Prison, where I am currently detained at the request of Indonesian authorities for extradition to Indonesia, without a statement from the Indonesian Attorney General and without a warrant issued by an Indonesian judge, as stated in the Indonesia-Singapore extradition agreement," wrote Paulus Tannos in his letter.

Nevertheless, he expressed his willingness to return to Indonesia to face the charges from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He also conveyed this to President Prabowo Subianto in a letter.

"As long as the legal process is fair and conducted by judges with high integrity and free from corruption," said Paulus. He further stated that in the past, there were many court cases that had seriously prejudiced him and his family.

The discourse of repatriating Paulus Tannos from Singapore via extradition has been raised since late January 2025. As of now, the discussions regarding the extradition are still ongoing.

Most recently, the Corruption Eradication Commission stated that there is a request for additional documents by the Singapore authorities for the extradition process of Paulus Tannos. KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto, when confirmed on April 15, 2025, mentioned that the documents in question are additional affidavits.

Meanwhile, the Director General of General Law Administration at the Ministry of Law, Widodo, stated that the extradition hearing for Paulus Tannos in Singapore is predicted to take place in June 2025. He explained that the preliminary hearing regarding Paulus' extradition eligibility will occur from June 23 to 25, 2025.

"We hope that if they do not oppose it and can accept it, it will be immediate. The extradition decision will be made quickly," said Widodo, as quoted from Antara on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

According to him, the Indonesian government cannot interfere because the extradition eligibility concerns Singapore's national legal jurisdiction. Therefore, the Indonesian government is only waiting for the court's decision in Singapore.

He also does not know the time gap between the decision and the execution of the extradition. However, Widodo is confident that the Singapore government will assist the extradition process. This is because there is a mutual legal assistance agreement (MLA) that has been established with Indonesia.

On the other hand, he explained that the Indonesian government is currently preparing additional documents requested by the Singapore Attorney General's Chambers (AGC). These documents are related to the evidence associated with Paulus Tannos' case in Indonesia.

"All the documents have been submitted, they are complete, but there are certain points that may require emphasis on some evidence, related to the affidavit and others," said Widodo.
