TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned transportation company PT MRT Jakarta is investing over Rp300 billion to build the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck, which will become a new icon in the Sudirman area, Central Jakarta.
"It is currently under tender, and the investment value for construction reaches over Rp300 billion," said Agus Trihan from the Program Management Office Division at PT MRT, accompanied by TOD Planning Department Head Sagita Devi in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Although the project has not yet been awarded and investment costs reach Rp300 billion, he confirmed that the construction of this new landmark on Jalan Sudirman will not rely on funds from the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD).
He detailed that the budget will be drawn from equity investments provided to PT MRT as well as credit facilities. "A portion will be sourced from investment capital, and the remainder will be financed through loans," he said.
Agus noted that for the construction of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck, the company will not carry out land acquisition but will instead collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
"This figure is purely for development purposes," he stated.
He explained that the circular pedestrian deck will be engineered to support a load capacity of 500 kilograms per square meter. The Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck will serve as a new landmark and an interchange hub for Jakarta residents transferring across public transport networks, including the MRT, LRT, Commuter Line (KRL), and Transjakarta.
The northern and southern stretches of the site will also be widened to seven meters, offering dedicated space for commuters to pause and enjoy the city view. "There will also be a history gallery here," he added.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially led the groundbreaking ceremony for the circular Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, targeting completion of the infrastructure by 2028.
"I officially declare the launch of the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck project. Hopefully, this construction will enhance Jakarta's transportation network," Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said in Jakarta on Sunday, August 2.
The pedestrian-exclusive facility is designed to integrate various public transit options, including the Jakarta MRT, Jakarta LRT, Greater Jakarta LRT, Commuter Line (KRL), Transjakarta, and the airport rail link.
The structure is designed as a ring with a diameter of approximately 118 meters and a width of around 12 meters. Alongside walkways, it will feature commercial spaces. "I am confident the airport train will be fully integrated with city check-in facilities," Pramono said.
