TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman is preparing an incentive scheme for MSMEs, including those in the food and beverage (F&B) sector. The incentive aims to protect local MSMEs from the increasing incursion of Chinese F&B outlets into the domestic market.
Maman stated that the ministry has been making efforts to limit the entry of foreign products through various regulations and policies. "Currently, the Deputy of Small Business is in discussions and calling on several marketplaces to create some incentives," he said at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
He emphasized the need for special attention to local MSMEs. According to him, there needs to be a distinction between local food and beverage products and those from abroad.
"Because on average, marketplaces also sell many food and beverage products. If the food and beverage products are local and produced locally, the incentives will certainly be different from food and beverage products from outside," said Maman.
Nevertheless, he has not detailed the form of incentives that will be provided, whether in the form of fiscal or other schemes. "Certainly, one of them is, for example, from the percentage fee and so on. We are currently considering how, in what way, so that there is a differentiation between local goods and foreign goods," said Maman.
