Granting of Protection for Terrorized Tempo Journalist Under Review by LPSK

2 days ago 6

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has examined the request for protection for Tempo journalists who have experienced terror. "We still have to decide at the Leadership Court of LPSK (SMPL) on April 9," said Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Sri Suparyati to Tempo on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

The request for protection for Tempo journalists was submitted by the Journalist Safety Committee or KKJ Indonesia after Tempo faced a series of terror, starting from the delivery of a package containing pig's head and rat carcasses. The victims and/or witnesses submitted by KKJ to LPSK amounted to seven people. They consist of six Tempo editorial team members and the mother of Fransisca Christy Rosana or Cica, a Tempo journalist who was the target of the terror.

The first terror at the Tempo office occurred on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. A motorcycle courier delivered a cardboard box wrapped in styrofoam layers. The courier wore a black jacket and a helmet from a motorcycle taxi application. The package containing the pig head pieces was addressed to Cica, a political desk journalist as well as the host of Bocor Alus Politik on Tempo.

Tempo's Chief Editor Setri Yasa reported this case to the Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) on Friday, March 21, 2025. However, the next day, Tempo received another terror in the form of a package containing six rat carcasses. The box of cardboard wrapped in red rose-patterned wrapping paper was found by the cleaning staff on Saturday, March 22, 2025, around 08:00 AM WIB. Furthermore, Cica was also a victim of doxxing. In addition, Cica's family member, her mother, also experienced disturbances in the form of hacking of messaging application accounts.

Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro from Bareskrim Polri's Criminal Investigation Directorate stated that his team had received CCTV footage from the Tempo Building's security post as well as along the suspected perpetrator's route. "Subsequently, the team conducted video analysis with a focus on locating one unidentified suspected perpetrator," said Djuhandhani in Jakarta on Monday, March 24, 2025.

In addition to analyzing the CCTV footage, the investigators also visited the Tempo Building for further inspection at the scene. Djuhandhani stated that several witnesses had been documented to strengthen the investigation.
