TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School will hold the World Muslim Scout Jamboree (WMSJ) from September 9 to 14, 2025. This event is part of the Gontor 100th anniversary.
The Co-Chairperson of WMSJ 100th Anniversary of Gontor, Akrimul Hakim, stated that the event aims to attract 15,000 participants. "So, the event is expected to draw 15,000 attendees, 13,000 domestic and 2,000 international," he said at Tempo office, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Akrimul mentioned that this event will not be exclusive to the Gontor community. The committee also opens opportunities for participants from various elements to enliven the series of events commemorating Gontor's 100th anniversary.
"We want this event to be a meeting place for the young generation of Indonesia. As Gontor is indeed holding this event based on the desire to reaffirm the commitment of love for Indonesia.," he said.
In order to host this event, the WMSJ committee has worked with the Indonesian Scout Movement, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the World Islamic Union for Scouts and Youth. In addition, the committee also plans to invite participants from at least 57 countries that are part of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Akrimul conveyed that this World Muslim Scout Jamboree is the first to be held in Indonesia. The event will take place at the Bumi Perkemahan and Graha Wisata (Buperta) Wiladatika, Cibubur, East Jakarta.
Previously, as quoted by Antara, the jamboree was officially launched by a Member of the Board of Trustees of Modern Islamic Boarding School Darussalam Gontor, Husnan Bey Fananie, on August 14, 2024. The theme raised, according to Husnan, represents the dream of all Muslim Scouts worldwide who desire the realization of peace, especially for Muslim countries in the world. "We are Muslim: Civilized, United, and Peaceful," he said, referring to the main theme of this activity.
Husnan hopes that this agenda can embrace all Muslim Scouts scattered around the world. In addition, he aims for the World Muslim Scout Jamboree to become a symbol of peace for all humanity.
"Insya Allah, tens of thousands of scouts worldwide will attend this World Muslim Scout Jamboree," said Husnan.
