TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani voiced uncertainty over the Gerindra Party politician and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad’s alleged ties to an online gambling operation in Cambodia.
"I'm not sure," Muzani said briefly when met at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Pressed further on the reason for his uncertainty, he simply repeated, "Yes, I'm not sure."
Based on the Tempo investigation titled Businessmen and Politicians Controlling Online Gambling in Cambodia published on Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Daily Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Central Board, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, was mentioned in relation to the online gambling business in Cambodia.
In the 2022 annual report, PT MNC Digital Entertainment Tbk wrote that their former chief commissioner, Sufmi Dasco, had previous business experience in Golden Oasis Entertainment Co Ltd and Golden Oasis Real Estate in Cambodia.
Information about Dasco's affiliation with the gambling business was confirmed by an official in the Red and White Cabinet.
Golden Oasis Entertainment Ltd manages the Trimulia Casino operating in the Sihanoukville area of Cambodia. The company's business activities include gambling, human resource provisions, travel agents, construction, bars, massage services, restaurants, and hotels.
The Trimulia Casino is located on the ground floor of the hotel building. "The casino and hotel are owned by an Indonesian," said one of the building staff to Tempo during their visit to the casino.
Tempo once again attempted to request a response from Dasco via instant messaging application on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. However, as of the writing of this news, Dasco has not yet responded.
