CANTIKA.COM, Jakarta - On the occasion of commemorating Kartini Day today (4/21/2025), the Jakarta Provincial Government has waived the transportation fees for women using Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT for a full day. This policy was announced directly by the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, and applies to all routes.
"So on April 21st, all women using public transportation, whether it's LRT, MRT, Transjakarta, are free," said Pramono Anung, as quoted from Tempo on Sunday (4/20/2025).
Regarding this policy, the Public Transportation management, along with the Jakarta Transportation Agency, will prepare special entrances for women at each bus stop and station. The free fares for women in commemoration of Kartini Day will be valid on April 21, 2025, starting from 00:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) until 00:00 WIB the next day.
Not only free for women on Kartini Day, during this occasion, Pramono also revealed that free transportation fares will also be provided to men on the upcoming April 24, in commemoration of National Transportation Day.
"On the 24th, we will also provide free fares, not only for women, but also for men, because it is National Transportation Day," he added.
New Transjakarta Route
During this occasion, Pramono Anung also mentioned that there will be a new Transjakarta route launched on National Transportation Day. "We will launch a new route as our commitment to open with Trans Jabodetabek, from Blok M to Alam Sutra," he said.
After the opening of the Blok M - Alam Sutra route, Pramono said he plans to introduce four other routes. "All of them will connect Jakarta with surrounding cities," he added.
