TEMPO.CO, JakartaBank Indonesia (BI) reported that the broad money supply, or M2, reached Rp9,436.4 trillion in March 2025, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.1 percent. However, this marks a slight decline from February's annual growth rate of 6.2 percent.

“[It is] relatively stable compared to the previous month’s growth,” Ramdan Denny Prakoso, BI Executive Director of Communications, said in a written statement on Thursday, April 24.

The development of M2 in March 2025 was primarily driven by trends in credit distribution and net foreign assets. Credit distribution in March grew 8.7 percent year-on-year, a slowdown from February’s 9.7 percent growth.

Net foreign assets increased by 6.0 percent year-on-year, up from 4.1 percent growth in February 2025. Meanwhile, net claims on the central government contracted by 8.6 percent year-on-year, following a 5.8 percent contraction the previous month.

In February, M2 growth was also largely influenced by credit distribution and net foreign assets. Credit distribution in February 2025 grew 9.0 percent year-on-year, relatively steady compared to the previous month’s growth.

Net foreign assets grew 4.1 percent, higher than the 2.4 percent year-on-year growth recorded in January 2025.

On the other hand, net claims on the central government contracted by 5.7 percent in February, following a sharper 14.1 percent contraction in January.
