TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia accompanied President Prabowo Subianto on a working visit to Moscow, Russia, aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s energy supply stability, particularly in the oil sector.
“This working visit is a continuation of the partnership between the two countries, particularly for Indonesia’s national energy resilience in the long term,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as quoted by Antara on Monday (April 13, 2026).
Spokesperson Anggia said the minister’s presence underscored the strategic importance of the energy sector in supporting national interests amid shifting global conditions. She added that the visit also opens opportunities to expand concrete cooperation in the future.
President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin upon arrival in Moscow.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said one of the key topics on the agenda is the continuation of energy cooperation, including efforts to ensure stable national energy supplies, especially oil.
“Continuing cooperation with the Russian government and ensuring stable national energy supply, including the availability of oil,” Teddy said.
He added that the discussion is particularly relevant amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and changes in the global energy landscape that are affecting supply and demand dynamics.
Beyond energy, the two leaders are also expected to exchange views on global geopolitical developments, with Indonesia reaffirming its commitment to international stability, peace, and stronger strategic partnerships.
President Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Sunday night at around 11:10 PM WIB aboard a Garuda Indonesia aircraft, accompanied by a limited delegation.
Alongside Minister Bahlil, the delegation includes Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The nonstop flight to Moscow took approximately 12 hours, with arrival expected on Monday morning local time.
Upon arrival, President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the afternoon.
