TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The success of the animated film Jumbo has opened the door to the potential of the Indonesian animation industry. Before Jumbo, it turns out there were already several local animated films that successfully caught the attention of the audience with interesting stories and quality animation.
1. Si Juki The Movie: Harta Pulau Monyet (2024)
The animated film Si Juki The Movie: Harta Pulau Monyet presents Indro Warkop, Indra Jegel, Rigen, Mandra, Megan Domani, Maya Mulan, Wizzy, and Jaja Mihardja. This film was produced by Falcon Pictures and was screened in theaters on June 27, 2024.
The creator of Si Juki, Faza Meonk, revealed that the animated film Si Juki The Movie: Harta Pulau Monyet is a continuation of the previous adventure, Si Juki The Movie: Panitia Hari Akhir (2017).
Si Juki The Movie: Harta Pulau Monyet takes the audience on an exciting and hilarious adventure with Si Juki and his friends. This film is claimed to use more stunning visual animation and a more immersive viewing experience.
2. Nussa: The Movie (2021)
Nussa: The Movie premiered in theaters on October 14, 2021. The film Nussa is a collaboration between the animation studios The Little Giantz and Visinema Pictures. The film originates from the popular animated series that follows the story of Nussa and his sister, Rarra, in adventures full of Islamic and family values. This film successfully attracted audiences from various backgrounds due to its high-quality animation and touching story.
Nussa: The Movie also premiered at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival or BIFAN 2021 held in South Korea. The film won the Best Animated Feature Film at the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival or FFI. Directed by Bony Wirasmono, Nussa: The Movie is the first full-length animated film by Visinema and The Little Giantz, an animation studio from Jakarta.
3. Adit Sopo Jarwo: The Movie (2021)
Adit Sopo Jarwo: The Movie is a prequel to the popular television animated series of the same name. The film was produced by MD Animation and released on April 30, 2021 through the Disney+ Hotstar platform.
Adit Sopo Jarwo: The Movie tells the story of the initial meeting between Adit, Sopo, and Jarwo. On the journey to Yogyakarta, Adit is separated from his parents. He is assisted by Sopo and Jarwo in his efforts to reunite with his family. Their journey is filled with challenges and adventures that teach the meaning of friendship and cooperation.
4. Si Juki The Movie: Panitia Hari Akhir (2017)
Si Juki The Movie: Panitia Hari Akhir tells the story of Si Juki, a popular comic character, in saving Indonesia from a meteor threat. With its distinctive humor and strong moral message, this film successfully attracted more than 600,000 viewers.
Falcon Pictures revealed that the film Si Juki The Movie: Panitia Hari Akhir is the first animated theme film they have produced. The film also features a number of well-known celebrities to voice the characters, including Bunga Citra Lestari, Indro Warkop, Jeremy Tety, Ari Kriting, Mongol Stress, Tyson Lynch, Tarzan, and Butet Kertaradjasa.
5. Battle of Surabaya (2015)
Battle of Surabaya is a two-dimensional animated film in the genres of drama, action, and Indonesian history produced by MSV Pictures, the debut work of the young director Aryanto Yuniawan. This film presents scenes of fictional characters against the historical backdrop of the Indonesian struggle during the Battle of Surabaya in 1945.
Battle of Surabaya tells the adventure of Musa, a teenage shoe shiner who serves as a courier for the youth of Surabaya during the events of the battle on November 10, 1945.
