10 Killed, 6 Injured After Quarry Collapses in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Bandung -- A quarry collapses Mount Kuda, Cipanas Village, Dukupuntang District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, on Friday morning, May 30, 2025. 

The West Java Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said the death toll climbed to 10 after previously reporting 5 who were killed in the incident. Out of 10 killed, authorities successfully identified seven of the deceased. 

Meanwhile, six people were injured in the quarry collapse, and they were "taken to Sumber Hurip Hospital, Cirebon Regency," as quoted from a written statement by BPBD on Friday, May 30.

The West Java BPBD said the investigation is "underway," and the exact cause of the landslide is not yet known. 

Authorities previously named five of the deceased victims; Andri, 41, from Padabeunghar Village, Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency; Sukadi, 48, from Buntet Village, Astanajapur District, Cirebon Regency; Sanuri, 47, from Semplo Village, Palimanan District, Cirebon Regency; Sukendra, 51, from Girinata Village, Dukupuntang District, Cirebon Regency; and Dedi Hirmawan, 45, from Cimenyan Village, Bandung Regency.

The collapsed quarry also caused damage to three excavator units and six truck units. The West Java BPBD urges residents and miners to remain vigilant for subsequent landslides.
