TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto instructed the Governor of Bangka Belitung, Hidayat Arsani, to tackle the rampant tin smuggling in the region. Hidayat conveyed this after being inaugurated as the Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands by Prabowo at the Istana Merdeka, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Hidayat said on Thursday, April 17, 2025, that tin smuggling is deemed detrimental to the people; thus, Prabowo’s order is to “eradicate the extraordinary and rampant smuggling in tin mines.”
The governor said he would form a team involving local authorities, namely village officials, to catch tin smugglers.
Hidayat mentioned that President Prabowo also urges the improvement of the local economy, including by executing all programs that benefit the people.
Today, Prabowo inaugurated the elected Governor of the Papua Highlands, John Tabo, and the elected Vice Governor of the Papua Highlands, Ones Pahabol, as well as the Governor and Vice Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani and Hellyana.
The inauguration is based on Presidential Decree No. 39 - P of 2025, on the approval of governors and vice governors for the 2025-2030 term, said the deputy of administration of apparatus at the Ministry of State Secretariat.
