TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Vnukovo-2 Airport in Moscow, Russia, on Monday, April 13, at 07:45 AM local time for a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding strategic cooperation.
Prabowo was welcomed upon arrival by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and Director of the State Protocol Department Igor Bogdashev. Also present were Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Tavares and Indonesia’s Defense Attaché in Moscow, Air Commodore Budi Susilo.
During the visit, Prabowo is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Presidential Secretariat said the meeting is expected to reinforce cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector and other priority areas.
“The Indonesian government regards Russia as an important partner in supporting global economic stability and growth,” the Presidential Secretariat said in a statement on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya described the meeting as particularly significant amid ongoing global conflicts, including in the Middle East.
“In the midst of rapidly evolving global dynamics, this meeting is very crucial,” he said.
Teddy added that the two leaders will discuss a range of strategic issues, including efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s energy resilience through continued cooperation with Russia.
“Continuing cooperation with the Russian government and ensuring stable national energy supply, including the availability of oil,” he said.
He also noted that Prabowo and Putin are expected to exchange views on global geopolitical developments.
“[This includes] voicing Indonesia’s strategic position in maintaining global stability and peace,” Teddy added.
Prabowo departed Jakarta from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Sunday, April 12, at around 11:10 PM WIB. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The April 2026 trip marks Prabowo’s third visit to Russia as president, following previous visits in June and December 2025, during which he also met with President Putin.
