TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - McLaren driver Lando Norris secured his maiden victory in the 2026 Formula 1 season after setting the fastest lap at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix (GP) at the Hungaroring Circuit on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished second, with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli completing the top three.

Starting from pole position, Norris maintained his impressive performance throughout the 70 laps.

The British driver remained at the front of the pack before taking the lead after overtaking Antonelli on lap 46. From then on, Norris remained unchallenged until the finish line.

This victory marked Norris's first of the 2026 season and the 12th of his Formula 1 career.

Max Verstappen capitalized on several incidents in the final half of the race to secure second place.

The Dutch driver remained on track when Oscar Piastri, who was in second place, experienced gearbox problems and retired on lap 56.

This strategy allowed Verstappen to move up to second place and maintain it until the finish. Meanwhile, Antonelli withstood pressure from his rivals in the closing laps to secure a third-place podium.

Charles Leclerc finished fourth after Lewis Hamilton had to settle for fifth. Hamilton had originally crossed the finish line in fourth place but was given a five-second time penalty for violating the speed limit in the pit lane.

The Hungarian GP results conclude the first half of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Antonelli remains the current driver standings leader with 219 points from 11 races, 50 points ahead of second-place Hamilton with 169 points.

George Russell, who finished seventh in Hungary, is third in the standings with 160 points.

Formula 1 will then enter its summer break for approximately four weeks. Racing will return in the 12th series, the Dutch GP, which is scheduled to take place on August 23.
