TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has mandated his subordinates to use public transportation every Wednesday. The order applies to mayors, heads of departments, as well as all civil servants (ASN) and employees within the Jakarta Provincial Government.
This rule is laid out under Jakarta Governor's Instruction No. 6 of 2025. "On April 23, 2025, the Governor signed an Ingub regarding the use of mass public transport for Jakarta government employees," said Chico Hakim, Governor Pramono's spokesperson, in a brief message on Monday, April 28, 2025.
Chico stated that the rule will be effective starting this Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Government employees are instructed to use public transportation to commute, carry out their duties, and return from work.
The regulation also specified which employees are required to follow the public transportation order. These are the Secretary of the Jakarta Provincial Government, Inspector of the Jakarta Provincial Government, the mayors of Jakarta, Regent of the Thousand Islands, Head of the Jakarta Provincial Department, Head of the Jakarta Public Order Police Unit, Subdistrict Heads of Jakarta, Village Heads of Jakarta, and all Jakarta government employees.
Governor Pramono Anung exempts staffers with poor health conditions, pregnant employees, employees with disabilities, and field officers requiring specific mobility from this regulation.
The types of transportation classified as mass public transport in Governor's Instruction No. 6 of 2025 include Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, KRL Jabodebek, Airport Train, regular buses/minibuses, and ships, as well as employee shuttle services.
