
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commander of the Military Region Command (Pangdam) III Siliwangi Major General TNI (Indonesian Army) Dadang Arif Abdurahman stated that the investigation of the ammunition explosion that killed 13 people in Sagara Village, Cibalong, Garut Regency, West Java is still ongoing.
"The investigation is still ongoing, not yet finished," said Dadang when meeting the families of the ammunition explosion victims at Pameungpeuk Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Garut, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 as quoted from Antara.
Pangdam Siliwangi mentioned that the investigation team from the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) is still working to find out the cause of the destruction of expired ammunition that led to the deaths of 13 people, including four TNI personnel and nine civilians.
The two-star general emphasized that they are still delving further into the incident. "The team is still working," he said.
Similarly, relating to whether the location of the ammunition explosion is still appropriate or not, according to him, they are still awaiting the investigation results from the team. "Certainly, the area has been sterilized for now," he said.
As for whether the local community will be involved in the destruction of the ammunition in the future, once again Dadang stated that they are still awaiting the investigation results. "We'll see what happens in the future, as it depends on the regulations, what's clear is the investigation, we'll see later," he said.
The destruction of ammunition in the coastal area of Sagara Village, Cibalong on Monday, May 12, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 13 people, including four TNI members and nine civilians. The coastal area of Sagara Village has been a site for the destruction of expired TNI ammunition.
