TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has announced that it will provide a toll fee discount targeting around 110 million drivers in June-July 2025. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the provision of this tariff discount is part of the national economic stimulus program.
"This stimulus is expected to boost economic growth in the second quarter. So, we take advantage of this momentum to create several programs. Well, these are some programs that have been prepared, of course to drive growth through what can be increased through consumption," Airlangga said in Jakarta, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
On a different occasion, Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo stated that he is currently discussing the provision of toll fee discounts with toll road business entities (BUJT). The Ministry of Public Works through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) plans to gather all BUJT to discuss the issue of providing toll fee discounts on several toll road sections.
"We are starting discussions with BUJT to provide toll fee discounts, which are likely to be at a minimum similar to what we provided during Eid," Dody said in Jakarta, on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Dody explained that the decision to provide toll fee discounts in June-July 2025 indeed needs to be discussed with BUJT, as it can affect their income as investors as well as toll road operators. In addition, he said, it also needs to be discussed whether there will be additional compensation from the government to BUJT.
"The provision of toll fee discounts is indeed an instruction from the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs during the coordination meeting to provide incentives from all state ministries/agencies (K/L) so that economic growth remains high," said Dody.
Regarding the details of toll fee discounts in June-July 2025, such as the duration of implementation, the Minister of Public Works revealed that they will convey this in a separate opportunity.
Aside from toll fee discounts, the government also prepares five other economic incentives. First, a 50 percent discount on electricity tariffs for 79.3 million customers of the State Electricity Company or PT PLN (Persero) with power below 1,300 Volt Ampere (VA). Second, discount on public transportation ticket fares, consisting of air, train, and sea transportation modes during school holiday period.
The fourth stimulus is in the form of an additional allocation of social assistance (bansos) in the form of Rice Card or Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) and food assistance targeting 18.3 million beneficiary families (KPM) for distribution in June-July 2025.
Fifth, the government also plans to provide Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) for workers with a monthly salary below Rp 3.5 million or around the provincial minimum wage (UMP), as well as honorary teachers. Sixth, economic stimulus in the form of extending the discount program for Work Accident Insurance (JKK) premiums for workers in labor-intensive sectors.
