TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Whoosh high-speed train recorded a 99.4 percent on-time departure rate in the first half of 2026, with 10,574 of 10,640 trips departing according to schedule.

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa said the figure demonstrated the reliability of Whoosh operations and provided passengers with greater certainty when planning their journeys.

“On-time performance gives customers certainty when planning their journeys and activities,” Eva said in Bandung on Wednesday.

The 99.4 percent rate means only 66 of the 10,640 Whoosh trips operated during the January-June period did not depart according to schedule.

Eva said punctuality has become one of the key strengths of Whoosh as the high-speed rail service has changed travel patterns in Indonesia and introduced a new benchmark for on-time performance in the country’s transportation sector.

She attributed the service’s punctuality to an integrated operating system covering train scheduling, signaling, overhead power networks, rolling stock and railway infrastructure.

KCIC also carries out routine and scheduled inspections and maintenance to maintain operational reliability and minimize disruptions that could affect train schedules.

The maintenance covers Whoosh trainsets, high-speed rail tracks, signaling systems, overhead electrical networks and other supporting operational equipment.

“Readiness across the entire system is an important part of maintaining consistent on-time performance while ensuring the safety and security of every journey,” Eva said.

KCIC said it would continue maintaining the reliability of Whoosh operations to ensure passengers can travel according to schedule.
