Garuda Indonesia Responds to Pilot Association's Protest

13 hours ago 1

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The management of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. responded to several statements made by the Garuda Pilot Association (APG). Previously, APG expressed concern over the prolonged conflicts between management and employees, causing unrest among the employees.

The Director of Human Capital & Corporate Service of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Enny Kristiani, stated that as the national airline company, the company always prioritizes harmonious industrial relations as an important foundation in providing quality service to the public.

Enny explained the recruitment of 14 former Lion Air employees. The recruitment of professional staff is considered to have complied with Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles. "We can ensure that the employee recruitment process has been carried out in accordance with the company's recruitment regulations, with the aim of expediting the ongoing company transformation process," she said.

All the employees in question, according to Enny, are employed as pro-hire employees with fixed-term contracts. The remuneration provided is based on the company's employee remuneration that complies with the applicable market benchmark.

Regarding communication with the Labor Union and Freedom of Expression, according to Enny, the company has always prioritized open communication with employees from the beginning, including with the three unions at Garuda Indonesia. "Communication with APG is periodically carried out through various opportunities, starting from meetings with the Board of Directors to communications with the Human Capital Directorate," she said.

The policy to gradually abolish direct dues deductions has been implemented for other unions in the company since 2024, with the aim of restoring membership rights to Garuda Indonesia employees.

"This policy also aims to maintain the independence of employee unions and support the growth of free, open, independent, democratic, and responsible labor unions, in accordance with the mandate of the law," she said.

In response to the alleged criminal reports to the police, Enny explained that this was done against three individuals who falsely represented the union and were proven to have spread false information about the employee recruitment process in the company.

"The dissemination of false information has damaged the company's credibility in the eyes of investors, customers, and employees," she said. She mentioned that legal action was taken by the company after the persuasion and explanations provided by the company did not receive the same support and understanding from APG.
