3 Indonesian Bands With Songs Featured on Spider-Man Soundtracks

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s connection with the Spider-Man film franchise stretches back more than two decades. Since the early 2000s, three Indonesian bands have been selected to contribute songs to soundtracks for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ superhero films.

From rock legends /rif and Edane to Bandung-based alternative rock band For Revenge, these Indonesian acts have brought local music to the world of Peter Parker.

Here are three Indonesian bands that have appeared on Spider-Man soundtracks:

1. /rif – “Dunia” (Spider-Man, 2002)

Rock band /rif became the first Indonesian group to contribute to a Spider-Man soundtrack through their song “Dunia” for the first “Spider-Man” film released in 2002.

The track was selected through a curation process by Sony Music Indonesia for director Sam Raimi’s superhero film starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker.

The achievement was significant as “Dunia” appeared alongside tracks from international artists, including Aerosmith and Sum 41, in the official soundtrack album.

At the time, /rif’s involvement marked one of the earliest examples of Indonesian music gaining exposure through a major Hollywood film franchise.

2. Edane – “Cry Out” (Spider-Man 2, 2004)

Two years later, Indonesian heavy metal band Edane continued the country’s connection with Spider-Man through their song “Cry Out” for “Spider-Man 2” (2004), which was also directed by Sam Raimi.

The band’s participation helped introduce Indonesian metal music to a wider international audience.

The film’s soundtrack also featured several international rock acts, including Dashboard Confessional, Hoobastank, Yellowcard, Maroon 5, Train, and The Ataris.

3. For Revenge – “I Miss You Every Brand New Day” (Spider-Man: Brand New Day, 2026)

After more than two decades without an Indonesian representative on a Spider-Man soundtrack, Bandung-based alternative rock band For Revenge became the latest Indonesian act to join the franchise.

The band contributed “I Miss You Every Brand New Day” for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (2026), marking their first collaboration with a major Marvel project.

For Revenge vocalist Boniex said the opportunity was an honor, especially because the song required the band to explore Peter Parker’s personal experiences and emotional journey rather than their usual approach of writing from their own stories.

The song features guest vocals by Cynantia Pratita, vocal direction by Kamga, and choir backing from Gege Gumilar, Mulia Aprianto, Nadine Arlyanaza, and Luginia Raftiane.

The collaboration is part of a global soundtrack strategy by Sony Pictures and Sony Music to create localized songs for different markets. In Japan, Marvel also partnered with Japanese band Mrs. GREEN APPLE for the song “Brand New” for the same film.
