TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, is scheduled for questioning today at the main building of the Attorney General's Office. Febrie is being questioned as a witness in a money laundering case related to the discovery of foreign currency amounting to hundreds of billion at Febrie's residence in Sentul, Bogor.
"The questioning will take place at the main building of the Attorney General's Office," said Deputy Attorney General for Oversight Rudi Margono at his office in South Jakarta on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Today, Febrie is being questioned based on the investigation order (sprindik) with the reference number Print-03/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026 dated July 20, 2026. Regarding the Febrie's case, prosecutors have issued four investigation orders.
The other investigation orders are numbered 43 and 44. Order 43 is to investigate allegations of corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau Steel. Order 44 is to investigate allegations of corruption in the management of coal at a power plant suspected of causing a blackout in Sumatra. Additionally, Order 45 is related to allegations of corruption at PT Asabri. The police have declared Febrie a suspect in the case.
Rudi stated that the reason Febrie is being questioned as a witness in the money laundering case is due to the issuance of a new investigation order. This is in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court Number 21/PUU-XII/2014. Previously, Febrie was also summoned to be interrogated as a witness in the money laundering investigation on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. However, Febrie did not attend due to health reasons.
"Today, the person in question is being called again, after not showing up the first time. If they do not show up today, according to Article 28 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the investigator can compel their appearance," said Rudi.
However, he emphasized that the handling of Febrie's case will continue. Febrie's case is being handled by nine senior prosecutors under the coordination of Rudi Margono.
In response to the case, Febrie's lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea, stated that the police did not seek permission from President Prabowo Subianto when designating his client as a suspect in a corruption case related to the handling of cases at PT Asabri. "Imagine the president's pride suddenly being criminalized without even bidding farewell to the president," said Hotman on Friday, July 18, 2026.
Hotman denied all allegations directed at his client, which led to Febrie's designation as a suspect in the handling of the PT Asabri case at the Attorney General's Office. He also questioned the process of designating Febrie as a suspect because it was considered a violation of the Criminal Procedure Code. According to the Code, suspects must be summoned and interrogated before being designated as such.
According to Hotman, Febrie Adriansyah made significant contributions to non-tax state revenue collections during his tenure as Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes and Chief Executive of the Forest Area Regulatory Task Force (Satgas PKH). They claimed that the former prosecutor is a source of pride for President Prabowo, as through the law enforcement efforts of the Satgas PKH led by Febrie, the state received Rp300 trillion in one year.
Additionally, there was a state loss recovery of Rp130 trillion. "It's already Rp430 trillion back, something the president is proud of," said Hotman. Febrie served as the Chief Executive of Satgas PKH due to their position as Deputy Prosecutor General, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025. However, Hotman Paris resigned as Febrie's lawyer on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
