With this election result, the Liberal Party secured its fourth consecutive victory. Carney replaced Justin Trudeau as prime minister, who was ousted on Monday, March 10, 2025.

1. United States and Canada Relationship
Carney raised issues such as tariffs and the threat of annexation from Trump. In his victory speech, he stated that he would face Trump. He also emphasized to Trump that Canada has many options to make the country prosperous. On Monday, April 28, 2025, he said Canada will lead the global economy if the U.S. does not. Carney affirmed Canada masters in its house.
Carney stated that he would fight in various ways to obtain the best deal for Canada. He will make Canada the world's greatest country. He shall build Canada's independent future by protecting its workers and businesses.

In early April 2025, Trump imposed new trade tariffs between the U.S. and several countries. The imposition of these tariffs received negative responses from several countries, including Canada.
Canada's Ambassador to Indonesia, Jess Dutton, said that the trade war, which began with the imposition of U.S. import tariffs on Canada, should not have been necessary. During the International Women's Day celebration at Le Meridien Jakarta on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Dutton said he believes this policy could damage the world's strongest economic relationship.
