1. Cyclone 95B Behind Malaysia Floods Expected to Make Landfall in Sumatra

TEMPO.COJakarta - Tropical Cyclone Seed 95B has a very high chance of reaching the shores of Sumatra. The low-pressure system, which originated in the waters of the Malacca Strait, east of Aceh, since Friday, November 21, 2025, is already the cause of a major flooding disaster currently affecting Malaysia.

"Data from ECMWF suggests the chance of it reaching Sumatra is 90–100 percent," said Erma Yulihastin, a climate and atmosphere researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Erma referenced the monitoring of tropical cyclone activities since the storm’s formation by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast.

2. Deadly Floods Hit Southern Thailand After Heavy Rains

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Severe rainfall caused destructive flooding in southern Thailand, leaving the tourist city of Hat Yai waist-deep underwater and prompting the government to declare a state of emergency in Songkhla province on Tuesday.

Officials said at least 13 people have been killed across four flood-hit provinces.

Also on Tuesday, Thailand prepared to deploy a naval flotilla of 14 boats and the aircraft carrier Chakri Naruebet, which will carry helicopters, medical teams, supplies and field kitchens capable of producing 3,000 meals a day.
